11"x14" stretched canvas
Acrylic Paints: Magenta, Yellow, Aqua, Purple, Panes Grey, White, Interference duo green
Acrylic spray paint (leftover from T-shirts)
Glazing Medium
Mod Podge (or gel medium or white glue)
Deli Paper (or tissue paper for texture)
Stencils (I used a homemade hot glue stencil and feather stencils from Stencil Girl) Hot glue stencil tutorial here: http://youtu.be/YbLcxJ0RYQQ?list=PLNx...
Letter stamps (optional)
Directions: Sketch directly on the canvas with acrylic paint and a #1 round brush. The long handled brushes are perfect for easel work allowing you to back away from the canvas and really see what you are painting. after you have determined where the face will be you can crumple up a sheet of tissue paper and tear it and glue it to the background with white glue or mod podge. You can brush color over the tissue paper with the 5/4" hog bristle brush for amazing texture. The best thing about having this set of 15 brushes is that you do not need to stop and clean the brushes between colors, just set them in water and wash them thoroughly after you are done painting for the day!
Use glazing medium in your paint to build up shadows and highlights in the face. The glazing medium with make the paint stay wetter longer and also make it more transparent,
Paint the hair and details in the face with Payne's grey. Stamp "dream" on a piece of tissue and adhere to the canvas. Use the #11 flat to stencil the feathers. Add touches of metallic paint to the feathers and hair if desired. Have fun!
